02/28/2008 WIZARD Magazine #198 has listed The Miscellaneous Adventures of STYKMAN™ on their Top Independent list of 2008. For those of you who have been with us since the beginning, that makes 3 years in a row (See sidebar)! The list was done a bit sifferent this year. This time around their are no numbered spots per se' (#41 in '06, #18 in '07). Instead the list was broken up into categories ––STYKMAN™ falling into the category entitled "PIXAR WORTHY!" The subtitle reads:

"From middle school wimps to kung fu vampires, check out the most accessible all-ages comics on the stands!"

"A literal twig of a hero and his ubiquitous alien sidekick tear through undead pirates, mudmen and the devil himself in this tounge-in-cheek- comedy romp. "

The Trade Paperback collecting issue 1-5 will be soliciting next month. Keep a weather eye out.

UPDATE: The TPB is currently solicinting Order code MAR083394 (Click here to read)

As reported on 03/05/2007:

WIZARD Magazine #186 has hit the retailer stores nationwide and is scheduled to hit newstands in a couple of weeks. What makes this issue so special you ask? Inside you will find the section known as WIZARD EDGE; a section dedicated solely to the Independent titles that help make this industry great. This issue, WIZARD has selected the top 40 Independant comics of 2007, and STYKMAN is #18. Don't know about you, but we're pretty excited. The write-up reads as follows:

"Creator Jonnie Allan and A.K.A. Comics supply raucous escapades starring a twig in a cowboy outfit which follows the hombre's Saturday Morning Cartoon-Style adventures with a dash of mature humor. STYKMAN joins in the comedy comic tradition of The Tick and The Flamming Carrot with bright, original artwork that drives the physical humor and makes the book a lavishly absurd symphony of wanton madness. Pick this up for the kid in your life or the kid in you, for that matter."

This is the second year in a row that The Miscellaneous Adventures of STYKMAN™ has been chosen by WIZARD as a top Independent. With only 2 issues out, and now currently distrubuted by Diamond Comic Distributors, Inc. we have to wonder if we'll be breaking the top 10 next year.

As Reported in March of 2006:

03/01/2005 The latest issue of Wizard Magazine # 174 hit stands last week. Included in this issue was a special Wizard Edge section dedicated solely to Independent publishers. The caption reads: "42 things you need know about Indie Comics in 2006." To our jaw dropping surprise, The Miscellaneous Adventures of STYKMAN™ made the list. Why are we surprised? Not only are we listed with incredibly talented creators who have been in the Indie game for years, but we made the list after only one issue. Not bad if you ask us.

The write up reads:

"Taking shots at comics that are full of impossibly brawny strongmen and heroes that take themselves too seriously, a.k.a. Comics The Miscellaneous Adventures of STYKMAN is a dendrologist's dream come true. A sharp mix of The Tick and 'The Pink Panther,' STYKMAN bumbles into his heroics with minimum training and maximum ego. These over-the-top superheroics provide the perfect solution for anybody getting a little bit too much angst out of the mainstream."

Pretty much sums it up, don't cha' think? Don't know about you, but we are pretty excited!
So you know:

-DENDROLOGIST: One versed in the natural history of trees. Don't worry, we had to look it up too.

WIZARD WORLD LOS ANGELES is right around the corner (March 16-18) kicking off the Wizard World '07 tour. Please stop by and see us in the ARTIST ALLEY section. We will have plenty of Miscellaneous Merchandise like T-Shirts, Ball Caps, posters, and of course the comic for you to purchase.
