•April 24 2007 jonnie Allan here. We just returned from a little town in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Not only does this town have the first recorder UFO crash in US history (Uh-huh), is the birthplace of radio and television personality Rush Limbaugh, it also is home to one of the cuttest, little comic conventions we've been to. But just because it's small, do not think it's worth overlooking. This show brought out silver age legends Denny O'neil (Batman), Roy Thomas (GHOST RIDER, EIC Marvel Comics and Alter Ego magazine), and Gary Friedrich (Cretaor of GHOST RIDER.). Other creators on hand were Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt (Creators of THE DAMNED through ONI Press), Barrett hinkle (The ODDLINGS), Doug Baltz (EPITAPH), and little 'ol us.

I was given the pleasure of creating the cover design for the program (See sidebar). Since the creator of GHOST RIDER, Gary Friedrich, was going to be on hand, Ken Murphy, owner of MARVELS and LEGENDS comic book store and organizer of the event, asked me to draw GHOST RIDER looking cool with STYKMAN being his usual self in the background. The real compliment came from Gary Friedrich telling me how much he loved the rendition of GHOST RIDER. That meant a lot.

"Jean and I enjoyed meeting you and your family at Cape Con. And you've made us real Stykman fans. We're anxiously awaiting ish #3." -Gary Friedrich

Apparently they liked it so much it was turned into an EXCLUSIVE print for the show (Limited to 100 copies).

We also wanted to make the show a memorable one by creating an EXCLUSIVE cover for issue 3 (See sidebar). This cover was litmited to 100 copies. I believe there are only a ferw of these left. If you wish o obtain one of these contact Ken Murphy at marvelslegends@yahoo.com

Saturday I was given the pleasure of hosting a panel discussion on "How to Self-Publish." The room was full wih eger individuals trying to bring their comic ideas to light. Hopefully I was able to shed a little light on the topic. It can be quite the challenge going it alone in the publishing world (Speaking from experience).

We were truly embraced by all who attended the show; for that we thank you. Although having dinner with Denny O'Neil was a real treat (Something I never thought would ever happen in a million years.), the reception we received from Cape Girardeau, Missouri is what made the trip such a thrill. We will be back next year.
