WE HATE SPAMMERS TOO!

06/25/2006 We just returned from Wizard World Philadelphia. What a show! This being the first time we set up shop in the windy city we were unsure of the response the bumbling branch would have. We were pleasantly surprised. Not only were there plenty of existing STYKMAN fans abound, Many more were introduced to all things Miscellaneous.

Although no where near the size of San Diego Comicon, the Hall was still impressive with the many Publishers, Retailers, and Artists sharing the floor. The main difference between the shows were the number of comic fans there were. Comicon may be the end all, be all of conventions, however it seems Hollywood has taken over most of it. Chicago is mainly about comics. And that's a good thing.

Before we forget, we must thank Mr. Ken Murphy, Owner of Marvels and Legends Comic book store in Cape Girardeau, MO. Ken graciously volunteerd his time to help us get the word out at the show. Thank you, Thank you.

The rundown of the weekend is as follows:

Just once it would be nice to have a show start off smoothly. Having arrived in town around noon, there was plenty of time for us to set up the booth in time for Preview Night. Except, the booth was placed on the wrong flight. Nice. Fortunately the booth did finally arrive and we were able to get set up before Preview night ended.

The highlight was finally having issue 3 available for a change. Between unforseen glitch and printing problems we were unable to have it on hand for San Diego. Fortunately we had a good amount of advance copies on hand; of which we nearly solf through.

The show opened with a bang. A large number of people had begun lining up out in front of the convention center anxiously awaiting the doors to open. The size of the line reminded us of the fron of the hall in San Diego.

Once again, we were blessed with just tremendous neighbors. To our right was Jaml Igle (52, NIGHTWING, ETC.), to our left were Josh Elder and Russell lisko (writers on THE BATMAN STRIKES.) Across the aisle were Michael Dolce & Daniel Leister (The SIRE). You know, It's one thing to have really nice people around you, it's another when they are very talnted people as well. Wow.

So many folks stopped by to say hi such as Greg horn, Angel Medina, Brian Pulido, Bob Wayne (DC), Fred Pierce (President of Wizard Magazine) and Gareb Shamus (The Man at Wizard), Michael Laico, Matthew Mohammed, Marc Wolfe, and many, many others.

Several media people stopped by as well to chat about the success of STYKMAN including Michael May from COMIC WORLD NEWS, Brian Christman from COMIC GEEK SPEAK, and the boys from HERO ENVY.

The costumes were incredible (See some photos in sidebar.). Comic fans have definitely taken their support to another level.

All in all a tremendous show. We really appreciate the feedback we received from both fans and retailers carrying our books. We cannot thank you enough. This show proved to be one of the best. Thank You Wizard Entertainment. We will be back next year.
